Diabetic Considerations...
Diabetes is a systemic disease that affects multiple systems of the body.
Foot problems that may arise from diabetes may include:
- Lack of sensation
- Poor circulation
- Difficulty healing wounds
- Infection
- And weakness
Orthotics and shoes are covered for paitents who have diabetes
mellitus AND they have one or more of the following conditions:
- Partial amputation of the foot
- History of foot ulceration
- History of pre-ulcerative calluses
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Foot deformity
- Poor circulation
Diabetic foot orthotics must be used in appropriate diabetic
shoes to be covered by insurance.
